Funeral Information

Funeral Services for Hugh will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope, with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation for Hugh will be on Tuesday, from 2-7 pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Military Honors will be given in honor of Hugh at the cemetery. A white clover ceremony will take place Tuesday, at the funeral home, at 6:30 pm. Memorials may be given to the St. John Lutheran Church, or Disabled Veterans. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com

Hugh is survived by his children: Steven Harwood of North Carolina, and Vicky Mazza of St. Clair Shores, 3 grandchildren: Skylar and Spencer Harwood, Riley Mazza, 1 great granddaughtger Mollie Rae, brothers: Gary Harwood, Larry (Joyce) Harwood and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Glen and Jane Harwood, brother Gene Harwood and sisters: Shirley and Karen Harwood.

Biography

Hugh Harwood, age 87 of Port Hope, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Courtney Manor Nursing Center of Bad Axe. He was born on September 19, 1934 in Adams County, North Dakota, to the late Glen and Jane (Keefer) Harwood. Hugh served in the US Army, from 1957-1959. He and Beatrice Schave were united in marriage on June 30, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2001. Hugh worked as a Truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope, and the AmVets Post of Port Hope. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, travelling, and loved his family, church, and the AmVets.
