Funeral service for Dorothy will be 11 a.m. on Monday December 16, 2019 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Rev. Scott McDermond officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Port Hope. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be offered in Dorothy’s name to the charity of your choice or to the family discretionary fund
She is survived by her sons: David (Diane) Reinke of Port Hope, Lawrence (Debbie) Reinke of Comstock Park and Perry Reinke of Port Hope; her daughters: Deborah Reinke of Elkton, Sally Bruce of Pigeon, Christine Reinke of Grand Rapids and Candace (Dan) Strozeski of Port Hope; her grandchildren: Jeremy (Jessica) Reinke, Melody (Dan) Burton, Sue (Bill) Boone, Ryan (Michelle) Reinke, Eric Reinke, Samantha (Kevin) Dubs, Emily Strozeski, Jennifer (Bill) Emerick and Joseph (Marie) Strozeski; her great-grandchildren: Dylan, McKenzie, Gabrielle, Claire, Kaiden, Tara, Tyler, Emmett and Harrison; and several step great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings: Marjorie Hoops of Ohio, Marilyn (Bernie) Radlik of Warren, Jean (Mel) Gingrich of Bad Axe and Jane Kinney of Kentucky; along with many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant son, Samuel; grandson, Adam Reinke; granddaughter, Michelle Reinke; her great-grandson, Zachery Reinke; her great-granddaughter, Carly Reinke; her brothers: Donald and Edwin (Shirley) Sams; son in law, Daniel Bruce and brothers-in-law: Norman Kinney and William Hoops.
Dorothy L. Reinke, 82, of Elkton, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2019 in Saginaw, Michigan. Dorothy was born in Bad Axe on July 5, 1937 to the late Lawrence and Martha (Bredow) Sams. On August 23, 1953, she married William Reinke. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1985. Dorothy moved to Elkton in April 2000, previously living in Port Hope. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking. She was famous for her homemade breads and pizzas.
