John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edna; children: Christine (Stephen) McDowell of Lehigh, FL, Susan (Tom) Harman of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and John (Christine) Kotenko of Bay Port; grandchildren: Brandon and Aiden Harman, Kathleen and Darrin McDowell, Emmeline Kotenko, and step-grandchildren: Tyler and Austin Moody. brother, Michael (Sandy) Kotenko; and sister, Kayleen (Jack) Kohtz. John is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maryann Haag.
John G. Kotenko, Sr., age 79, of Bay Port, passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2019, at Scheurer Hospital. John was born June 5, 1939, in Sebewaing, son of John F. and Mary (Klimkowski) Kotenko. John graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1957. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged. He married Edna Kain February 4, 1961 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sebewaing. He retired from General Motors in 1996. John loved fishing and spent much of his life fishing on the bay.
