She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her sons Matthew of Ubly and Mark of Pigeon; her daughter Joanne Parker of Florida; her grandchildren Christina Parks, Christopher (Lisa) Parker, Christan (Chelli) Parker, Nicole, Ryan, Derek, Olivia and Isaac Brown, Kenneth Nichols, Adrianna (Eric) Schmidt, Alyssa (Nathan) Simpson, Shelby Yaroch, Brittany (Jacob) Kozlowski; and her great-grandchildren Alexis & TJ Parks, Joey, Jackie & Daniel Parker, Brantley & Emma Simpson, Caden Schmidt, Raven Nichols, and Amelia Kozlowski. Lola was preceded in death by her son Bruce Jr.

Biography

Mrs. Lola Marie Brown, 76 of Ubly passed away Friday, December 7th, 2018, at her residence with her family at her side. Lola was born on March 3, 1942 in Marlette to the late Donovan and Edna (O’Connell) Campbell. She married Bruce Earl Brown of Snover on December 16th, 1960. She graduated from Sandusky High School and then Grace Eastern MI College of commerce with a degree in business. Lola worked for Snover Hardware and did secretarial work for a company she and Bruce had buying green stock for Vlassic Pickle Co. of Imlay City. They lived in Snover until 1965 when they moved to Ubly. They owned the Brown House restaurant in Ubly and her ribs had people lined up at the door every Sunday for brunch. She and Bruce owned and operated Huron Vending, Huron Ice, Mid-Michigan Ice, and the Ubly Mini Storage, and she was an EMT for Bingham Township Ambulance for approximately 25 years. Lola was a member of Ubly Lions Club, Community Club, the Historical Society, Ubly Village Council, Thumb Veterans Auxiliary and the secretary for The Wildwood Flowers for World Travel and Mind Enrichment. She was also in all the 1970’s productions of the Alabama Jubilee. Lola was an active member of the Ubly United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She started the first joint Ubly Community Vacation Bible School in 1978 between the Ubly United Methodist Church, the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly, and St. John Catholic Church of Ubly. For approximately 40 years Lola continued her dedication to planning and organizing the annual Vacation Bible School program.
