A Mass of Christian Burial for Martin J. Osantoski will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:30 am at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Fr. Rob Howe officiating. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 10:30 am until the service time at 11:30 am. Cremation will follow with interment with military honors at St. Edward’s Cemetery in Kinde in the spring. Martin is survived by his wife Beatrice (Klama) Osantoski of Bad Axe. Two brothers – Peter Osantowski of Detroit and Arthur (Marie) Osantoski of Bad Axe. Three sisters – Virginia Partaka of Harbor Beach, Martha Stasinski of Redford, and Rose Schumacher of Flint. Sister-in-law – Joann Osantowski of Detroit. Many nieces and nephews. Step-children – Gary and Laurie Pionk of Ruth, Herb and Marilyn Pionk of Ruth, Dave and Sharon Rich of Deckerville, Randy and Arlene Brown of Bad Axe, Caroline Maurer of Ubly, Angeline Waddell of Springfield, Illinois, Lillian and Gary Rooney of Shelby Township and Oral Beaver of New Baltimore. Many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Martin was preceded in death by: Five brothers – Roman, Theodore, Robert, Fabian and Adam Osantowski. Three sisters – Minnie Nowiski, Laura Jaskowski and Susie Kociba. One step-daughter – Raymonda Beaver. One step son-in-law –Haven Maurer.
Martin Joseph Osantoski, age 93, of Bad Axe, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Courtney Manor Nursing Facility in Bad Axe. Martin was born October 28, 1925 in Parisville, son of the late Peter and Rose (Czewski) Osantowski. He attended St. Mary Catholic School in Parisville until sixth grade. He married Frances Shubert on June 22, 1957. She preceded him in death on February 15, 1993. Martin then married Beatrice Pionk on February 13, 1999. Martin worked for Hudson Motor as a millright from 1944 – 1952. He was inducted into the US Army July 18, 1952 and served until he was Honorably Discharged from the Army of the United States on April 21, 1954, earning a Korean Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, a National Defense Service Medal and a United Nations Service Medal. Martin then worked at Active Industries in Sebewaing, MI in machine repair until he retired. He was a member of the Parisville VFW Post 5740 and enjoyed woodworking and visiting at the senior center.
