A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11 am at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Fr. Rob Howe. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 3 – 8 pm or Monday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. A Knights of Columbus rosary and chalice service will be offered on Sunday at 6:30 pm followed by a scripture service at 7 pm all at the funeral home. Thomas is survived by his wife of 46 years Patricia of Bad Axe. One Daughter – Renee Williamson of Bad Axe. Three Granddaughters – Nacole Tucker and significant other Travis of South Carolina, Jessica (Nick) Baum of Ubly and Taylor Ann (Kevin) Jones of South Carolina. Five Great- grandchildren – Emma Sueann, Andrew James, Jason Scott, Olivia Grace, Kadence. Two Sisters – Velma Dewitt of Florida and Violet Vertin of Clawson. Many Nieces and Nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by: Parents – Thomas and Clara Polk. Seven Brothers – Orville, Harvey, Stanley, Alton, Donald, Norbert and James. Four Sisters – Verla, Vivian, Evelyn and Virgene.
Thomas Polk, age 80, of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. Thomas was born on January 23, 1938 in Verona Township, son of the late Thomas and Clara (Longuski) Polk. Sr. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1956 and then served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. He married Patricia Michaud on April 21, 1972 at St. Claude Catholic Church in Clinton Township, MI. Thomas was a member of St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Bad Axe where he was a member of the 3rd and 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus of Bad Axe. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the American Legion of Harbor Beach. He sailed the Great Lakes for 11 years with Columbia Shipping Lines. Thomas enjoyed hunting especially in Wyoming. He loved racing his horses at the race tracks. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years.
