Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 22 at St. Ignatius Church in Freiburg, Good Shepherd Parish. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 1:00-9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.

Kay is survived by one daughter, Angela Terrasi and her husband, Tony of Eastpointe; one son, Gordon Muma and his wife, Jennifer of Sandusky; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; two step daughters, Tina (Duane) Siemen of Harbor Beach, Marlene (John) Whittenburg of Florida; four brothers and one sister, Anthony Grifka and his wife, Jean of Ubly, William “Bill” Grifka and his wife, Mary of Chelsea, Ronald Grifka and his wife, Audrey, Ann Shatto and her husband, Walter, Thomas Grifka, all of Snover. Kay was preceded in death by one daughter, Anna (Muma) Doyle; one step daughter, Linda Muma, four brothers, Richard “Bear”, James, Lee and Alan Grifka; one sister, Mae Grifka.

Biography

Mrs. Kay M. Muma, 61 of Eastpointe and formerly of Ubly, passed away Friday evening, March 14 at her daughter Angela’s residence in Eastpointe. Kay was born on August 24, 1952 in Cass City to the late Alex and Olive (Stepka) Grifka. She married Raymond Muma on October 10, 1974 in Sandusky, MI. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1979. Kay was a graduate of Ubly High School. She was employed at Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City as a cook for 15 years until 1997 when she began working at Deckerville Die Form Kay worked there for 10 years before retiring in 2007. She enjoyed computer games, trips to casinos, cribbage, pinochle, and crossword puzzles. She liked listening to audio books as well as reading books. Kay cherished and truly enjoyed traveling with her family and friends.
