Meet the Jocks
You hear your favorite WLEW On Air Personalities everyday, but how much do you really know about them?
Josh (Crash) Brubaker
Josh (Crash) Brubaker is from the small town of Ida in southeast Michigan. Josh says that the thumb area reminds him a lot of home,
and he enjoys the small town feel and community.
He studied broadcasting at Specs Howard School of Media Arts in 2015, where he met fellow DJ Trevor "Boomer" Booms.
Josh was an intern at the Specs Radio online radio station and at Rewind 94.3 WERW in Monroe.
Josh is excited to be here at WLEW and wants to learn and grown as much as possible. He loves sports, pizza, and all types of music.
One fun fact about Josh: one of his first jobs was being a muskrat mascot!
A Michigan native, Brandon grew up near Kalamazoo and graduated from Parchment High School in 1998.
Brandon began his broadcasting career at WKZO in Kalamazoo in 1999. Other stops along the way included radio jobs in Battle Creek,
Grand Rapids and Muskegon. Brandon also worked as a teacher's assistant and music director for Kalamazoo Public Schools now defunct
EFE Radio Broadcasting classes. In 2005, he began work as a camera operator and studio floor director for WWMT Channel 3.
In 2008, Brandon returned to radio hosting live weekend shows on 103.3 WKFR in Kalamazoo along with working as a news reporter for
WBCK in Battle Creek. In 2013, Brandon moved to West Virginia to do morning radio on 97.1 WDBS. In July 2014, the current chapter
in Brandon's radio career began in Bad Axe at Thumb Broadcasting as Assistant News Director and Radio Host for both WLEW radio stations.
He currently lives in the Pigeon-area with his wife Lacy. Brandon enjoys history, travel, fishing, sports, music, astronomy and anything
else that goes good with beer. He and his wife also share hobbies including being weather junkies, aurora hunting, walking the beach and
watching their favorite TV shows and movies. They also enjoy their large fish aquarium, watching and identifying birds and the company of
their three cats Brutus, Stanley and Frankie.
Trevor (Boomer) Booms
Trevor (Boomer) Booms is from Port Hope. He graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 2013, and began
to study Broadcasting at Central Michigan University. After one semester Trevor decided that University
life was not for him, so he took a brief hiatus from studying. In August of 2014 he attended Specs Howards School
of Broadcast Media. While at Specs he met fellow DJ Josh (Crash) Brubaker. Together they became know as Crash and
Boom. The day after he graduated from Specs, he was hired in at WLEW which allows him to be close to family and friends.
Trevor is also the bassist and lead vocalist for the band Shoot the Rooster, which plays rock and blues. He really enjoys
Classic Rock, but also enjoys Hard Rock and Metal. Some of his favorite artists include DIO, Boston, Tenscious D and Five
Finger Death Punch. When he's not listening to music, or playing in his band, Trevor enjoys playing video games, eating,
driving cars, going to the beach, watching the Red Wings, and Detroit Lions, skiing, wakeboarding, whitewater rafting,
and kickin back outside on a warm summer day.
