Nicol's Christmas Lights, also known as Nicol's Christmas Light Extravaganza, is held at 6250 Germania Road just south of Cass City, with the display running nightly from early December 5th through Dec. 31, 5:30-10:30 p.m..
Visitors tune their car radios to a local frequency to hear holiday music synchronized with the lights as they drive or walk through the show.
The Nicol family's display has grown into one of the Thumb region's best-known residential light shows, featuring well over 150,000 bulbs choreographed to music and visible props such as animated trees, a giant snowman, and classic lawn figures retained from earlier years of the family tradition. Some elements are custom-built by the family, including larger features like a train and themed scenes that "dance" in time with the soundtrack.
The show traces its roots back more than 40 years to an original display started by John and Gayle Nicol in the early 1980's, which has since been passed down and expanded by their son Joel, his wife Jaime, and their children.
The family begins construction and programming work in summer, and the display has become an annual holiday destination for visitors from across Michigan's Thumb and beyond.
And everyone is welcome and no one is disappointed. Definitely make this a MUST SEE on your calendar!
And a HUGE "THANK YOU" goes out to the Nichol's family for their gift that they give the community each and every year - making it better everytime.
