There were a couple of new hirings and some resignations accepted during this month's meeting of the Unionville - Sebewaing Area School District's Board of Education.
The board approved hiring Amanda Hall as a paraprofessional, and approval was given for Dean Searle to be the e-sports coach.
Filling the e-sport coach position was a key move because the AVS Broadband and AVS Tech Team donated two computers to the district in September to help the district grow its e-sports team program.
The donation will help the school district's students compete and connect with technology. The waive of the future is E-gaming.
Colleges are offering classes on gaming, and some colleges even offer scholarships to good players.
Also, E-gaming can branch out to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) careers, and there are gaming competitions that play for high-stake money.
In other matters, the board accepted the resignations of Denise Maguire as Bowling Coach, and Marc Reinhardt- Varsity Softball Coach were both accepted with regrets.
The board also approved the eighth grade overnight trip to Washington DC in May of 2026.
During the meeting, Superintendent Josh Hahn reported the state approved the 2026 budget. With that done, it is a matter of waiting for the state aid check to arrive.
