Frankenmuth Police are Investigating an Accidentally Shooting

The Frankenmuth Police reported they responded to an accidental shooting incident on Saturday (Oct. 18).
At approximately 2:13 p.m., Saginaw County's Central Dispatched the Frankenmuth Police Department to a report of a shooting that occurred at 435 N Main St., which is the parking lot at the Kroger store.
When officers arrived on scene, they immediately rendered first aid. Officers applied a tourniquet to the patient's leg to control the bleeding before paramedics from Mobile Medical Response transported him to Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw.
It was noted the 53-year-old man from Vassar, who has a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) to carry his 38-caliber handgun, injury was not life threatening.
The injured man explained the gun discharged when he reached into his pocket.
Witnesses and video cameras collaborated the man's story that he accidentally shot himself.
Police officers took his firearm for safekeeping.
The Frankenmuth Police Department explained there is no ongoing threat to the community from the incident. However, the incident is still being investigated.
