The Brown City Council conducted a special meeting on Thursday Oct. 16 to review applications for an intern city manager.
The personnel committee received four resumes for the position. From there, they narrowed the candidates down to two.
Because the applicants requested confidentiality, the committee went into closed session to talk with applicant A and with applicant B.
The personnel committee recommended selecting Kyle R. Harris as interim city manager. The council accepted the recommendation and will pay him $240 per day without any benefits.
Harris will start his duties with the city on Oct. 20. It was agreed that he will have two days off in November and two days off in December.
Even though an interim city manager has been hired who has experience, the council approved continuing working with Rising Tide Municipal Solutions of Sandusky to handle the city manager search. They were hired for $9,200 to help the council with the search to find a new city manager.
A city manager is being sought because in August Chuck Bennett gave two week's notice that he is resigning as city manager.
