On Monday, (Oct 20), the village of Peck's DPW will start doing the fall flushing of fire hydrants.
The flushing will be done from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. It might take the DPW two weeks to complete all of the flushing of the system.
Flushing will start on the south end of the village.
During the flushing residents can expect to have reduced water pressure, discoloration, and momentary interruption of water service.
While the flushing is being done, the DPW suggests residents refrain from doing laundry during the hours the hydrants are being flushed as discoloration may stain clothing.
If the water is discolored, run a cold water tap for about 10 to 15 minutes until the water runs clear. The water is safe for consumption.
The village apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for cooperation as flushing is a necessary part of maintaining the water system.
