Another solar development project is interested in Huron County as a location for development.
The newest request came in a letter from Henry Anreder for onCore Origination.
Anreder's letter said he was reaching out on behalf of his client who is interested in leasing or purchasing space between 10 acres to 40 acres in Huron County, for the installation of an Energy Storage System.
This new information about a solar project came in a communication to Huron County, but no action was taken regarding it.
There has been controversy over solar farms and solar battery storage facilities that are currently on the books in the county during some recent Huron Commissioner meetings.
The main controversy is taking primary farmland out of production, concerns over possible contamination, but the key concern is the 15,000 acre provision in the ordinance for solar development.
The controversy over the number of acres allowed for solar development prompted commissioners to request the Huron Planning Commission to review the information they forwarded to the commissioners to act on in approving a solar ordinance.
Commissioners adopted an ordinance regarding solar and battery storage development from information from the planning commission, which included the 15,000 acre provision.
According to the United States Census report Huron County consists of about 1,408,000 acres.
