Several police departments across the state were disqualified from participating in a program due to missing key deadlines.
That issue was reported during the village's last council meeting by Trustee Marcus Sting.
Although Sebewaing's Police Department completed the required Law Enforcement Support Office Inventory, there were six agencies that did not complete it.
Their noncompliance resulted in the entire State of Michigan being suspended from requesting new equipment.
Sting went on to report the police department has been purging old files, continuing to do office renovations, that replacing computers and office equipment has been done.
It was also reported that officer Benjamin Davis completed the Field Training Officer (FTO) phase.
The council then approved a parade permit application for the Unionville - Sebewaing Area School District's homecoming at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3.
The parade will start at North Center Street by the fire department's parking lot, go down to Main Street to the main park at Third Street.
Also, the request from the New Salem Church to host an outdoor service and picnic on July 12, 2026, at the main park ball diamond was approved.
