Huron County Planning Commission Meets on Oct 1

The Huron County Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Huron County Meeting Room 305 at 250 E. Huron Avenue, Bad Axe.
According to the preliminary agenda of the meeting, solar energy, information about court cases, and 12 requests for Public Act: 116 enrollment in farmland preservation are being requested.
Listed under new business it was noted that Huron County Board of Commissioners Legislative Committee motion from Sept. 23, board of commissioners meeting there was a request for the planning commission to consider reducing the number of county zoned acres allowed for solar energy development and to consider implementing language requiring host community agreements consistent with PA 233 of 2023.
The agenda also explains the University of Michigan Center for Empowering Communities and MSU Extension notification that the Planning & Zoning For Solar Energy Systems: A Guide for Michigan Local Governments, 2025 Edition, is now available.
Also, the court cases that were noted were regarding Mockeridge v. Harvey, and the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula v. Peninsula Township.
