Harbor Beach Man Falls Asleep At The Wheel

A Harbor Beach man escaped injury after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing his pickup early Sunday morning in Huron County.

Deputies responded to the crash on Section Line Road, east of Minden Road, at about 2:26 a.m. September 28. According to the Huron County Sheriff's Office report, a 37 year old driver was eastbound when he fell asleep, veered off the road, entered a ditch, struck a traffic sign and a culvert, then came to rest after bouncing slightly and ending up in the north side ditch.

The Chevrolet Silverado sustained disabling front-end damage, but no injuries were reported.

The crash caused disabling damage to the truck and destroyed a road sign and culvert. Alcohol and drugs were not suspected as factors.
