Putman Family
Although the names of those involved in a horrific two-vehicle accident, at 9:02 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26th, have not been officially released, it has become common knowledge because the family is well known, and the family has taken to Facebook to release a statement.
Those who were killed in the crash were identified as William (Bill) Putman, who is the patriarch of the family, his wife Barb, and daughter-in-law Megan Putman.
Doctor Blake Putman was severely injured as well as four others who are mostly children.
The crash happened on Deckerville Road near Hurds Corner Road when a commercial semi-truck driven by a 55-year old Florida man and his female passenger were traveling Southbound on Hurds Corner Road and failed to obey the stop sign. The semi-truck collided with a Jeep that was traveling Eastbound on Deckerville Road.
The Eastbound vehicle was occupied by eight Putmans of Cass City.
Besides deputies, first responders from the Caro Fire Department and Kingston Fire Department were among those who were dispatched to the scene to administer aid to the many who were injured.
An 11-year old was ejected from the vehicle and a 13-year old was pinned in the vehicle.
Flight Care and Med Star helicopters were requested to respond to the scene to take the injured to hospitals to help the 5 others in the jeep.
According to information from the family, Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia are being treated for their injuries at a variety of area hospitals.
The family is asking for prayers and thanking those "who have sent kind messages, provided acts of love and support that mean more than words can express."
The driver and passenger of the semi truck were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was subsequently arrested and a report is being forwarded to the Tuscola County prosecutor for formal charges.
The Putmans are well known because they were featured on the TLC program "Meet the Putmans," which followed the lives of Bill and Barb Putman, and their four children plus their families living under one roof with 10 adults and 20 kids in a 35,000-square foot house.
