The Cass City Village Council will meet at 6 p.m., on Monday, Sept 29, in the Municipal Building along M-81.
According to the preliminary agenda, the council is expected to discuss what to do about a listing on Doerr Road, adopt 2026 strategic planning goals, and adopt the meeting schedule for the next fiscal year.
Some of the strategic goals the council plans to work on in 2026 is continuing to improve the downtown, promote commercial development in the downtown, to develop a mission and vision statement for the village, and to work on the walking trail.
Although the village recently split and sold two parcels of land in the industrial park on Doerr Road, there is an eight-acre plot that has been for sale since April 2024.
The contract the village has with Elite Realty to sell the property will expire on Oct. 7 so a decision has to be made soon about the property.
Village Manager Debbie Powell will ask the council what action they want to take with the property.
Some options are to resist the property, list it at a lower price than the $121,000, or consider splitting the property into smaller parcels.
The village has not dropped the price since it was first listed, the asking price could be lowered, the realtor had received inquiries for smaller parcels so that that is an option that could be considered, Powell explained about the various options.
The council will continue to meet at 6 p.m., on the last Monday of the month in the Municipal Building.
Also, the council is expected to set the Oct. 31 trick or treat hours to be from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
