Lapeer County to Host a Hazardous Waste Collection

Lapeer County will host a hazardous waste collection this month.
A "clean sweep" pesticide and household hazardous waste collection will be on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The collection will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds at Imlay City.
Some of the items that will be accepted are: drain cleaners, fluorescent tubes, antifreeze, gasoline, all pesticides, pool chemicals, aerosol gas, turpentine, shellac, and oil base paint.
The collection will not accept: latex paint, motor oil, appliances, tires, medical waste, explosives, electronics, construction debris, or trash.
Pre-registration is required to participate. For more information, call the Michigan State Extension office at 810-667-0341 or go to the website www.lapeercounty.gov.
The deadline to register for this collection is Sept. 15.
Participation is free, and the collection is being sponsored by the county's board of commissioners.
