Compensation was the key issue during the last meeting of the Akron Village Council, and replacing flags was discussed.

During the meeting, the council approved eliminating compensation time, and that vacation time would be able to be rolled over and capped at 40 hours per year.

Also, it was decided that any remaining vacation time would be paid at the time of working per payroll.

During the meeting, the issue of getting a new flag outside of the village hall was raised.

It was noted that the last flag for the hall was donated, but it now needs to be replaced.

It was noted that a council member would donate one, and then the question was raised about purchasing banners to replace the flags on the street poles.

It was suggested that banners might hold up better than flags and be less costly in the long run.

That suggestion was approved by the council. Instead of buying flags to put on poles on the street, the village will purchase flag banners rather than flags.
