Elkland Township Fire Department Joins Statewide Association

The Elkland Township Fire Department will now be part of a statewide mutual system, and they will be getting some new equipment.
The board of trustees approved the fire department becoming part of the Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Association, (MI-MABAS) agreement.
MI-MABAS is a formalized, statewide mutual aid network that enables fire departments and emergency-service responders to cross jurisdictional borders without issue.
Having the agreement covers legal authority, liability protection, and standardized operations during major emergencies, disasters, or large-scale multi-agency events.
Fire Chief Anthony Middaugh reported following annual hose testing, four 50-foot fire hoses need to be replaced.
Because of that, the board approved purchasing four replacement hoses from Dinges Fire for $2,461.
The money for the purchase will come from the fire and ambulance account.
Middaugh also reported firefighters Tony Middaugh, Matt Guinther, Kyle Bischer and Jim Stevens each successfully completed Officer One Classes.
