Michael Wayne Gilbert Gets His Choice Of Plea Offers

A plea cutoff hearing was held today in Huron County District Court for Michael Wayne Gilbert.

Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney David Wallace presented two options to the defense: a plea of guilty or no contest to one count of assault and battery, or a plea of guilty or no contest to reckless driving. In both scenarios, the prosecution agreed to dismiss all remaining counts.

Defense attorney Michelle Siev confirmed the offers were understood but stated that her client, Mr. Gilbert, rejected both. Judge Ferris ordered the case to be scheduled for a final pretrial and a subsequent jury trial, with the court to provide notice of the dates to both parties.
