A Huron County woman will avoid jail time if she successfully completes an 18-month probation sentence.
Tamara Denny appeared in circuit court for sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine. During the hearing, her defense attorney, Elizabeth Weisenbach, highlighted Denny's ongoing recovery efforts, noting her participation in Peer 360, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Narcotics Anonymous. The court heard that Denny is currently employed and has been active in community service.
Denny addressed the court, expressing regret for her past actions and stating she is committed to maintaining her sobriety for herself and her family.
Judge Prill sentenced Denny to 270 days in the county jail but held the remaining 269 days in abeyance, meaning she will not serve that time provided she complies with all probation conditions. Those conditions include maintaining employment, submitting to drug and alcohol testing, and completing any court-ordered treatment programs. Denny was also ordered to pay court costs, fines, and a crime victim's assessment.
