Bay City Police Arrest Man After Overnight Apartment Standoff

A 6 hour police standoff at a Bay City apartment complex ended early Sunday with one man in custody and no reported injuries.
Authorities say officers responded shortly after midnight to the East Bay Village Apartments on North York Drive after receiving reports of a gunshot. Investigators say a bullet traveled through the wall of a neighboring apartment, narrowly missing the people inside.
Police secured the area and evacuated nearby residents as the 46 year old suspect refused repeated commands to surrender.
The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team was called in to assist. Following several hours of negotiations and tactical operations, officers took the man into custody without further incident.
The suspect is being held at the Bay County Jail while awaiting arraignment. Authorities report no officers or civilians were injured during the incident.
