A 54-foot vessel ran aground in Lake Huron at approximately 1PM on the afternoon of July 1, 2026 just east of the Port Austin Reef Light where the water is approximately 3 and a half feet deep.

Huron County Sherriff Kelly Hanson and DNR Conservation officer Kyle Bucholz responded and successfully returned two individuals back to shore.
