Deckerville Schools set Yearly Budget

The Deckerville Community School District is ready for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
During Monday's meeting, the board of education adjusted the 2025-2026 fiscal year and approved the budget for the next fiscal year.
Marsha Taylor, who is the district's business manager, reported revenues of $8,160,081 and expenses of $8,565,131 with $405,050 being deducted from the fund equity to balance out the budget. As of June 30, the estimated fund equity will be $1,368,176.
Taylor explained the budget that would start on July 1 estimates revenues of $7,899,090 and projected expenses of $7,906,941 with $7,851 being deducted from the fund equity to be used to balance the budget.
She estimated that on June 30, 2027 the district's fund equity will be $1,360,325.
In other financial matters, the board approved setting the operating millage at 18 and the debt retirement millage at .80.
During the meeting, the board adopted the 2026-2027 All Hazards Emergency Operations Plan.
Approval was given to hire Rachel Benjey for the preschool teacher assistant position, and Monica Spranger as athletic director.
