Several Factors Impacting Sandusky Firefighters Association Decision

During a Sandusky meeting, it was announced the Sandusky Firefighters Association will not host a beverage tent at this year's Sandusky Thumb Festival at the end of the month

The association has hosted a beverage tent for about 40 years as a fundraiser.

Some of the reasons cited for not hosting the event were increased costs of supplies and insurance, declining attendance, and declining firefighter numbers in the department.

Although one festival event is gone, fundraising efforts are underway to bring back the fireworks display. That effort is being made in honor of America's 250 anniversary.
