Croswell Lexington School District Approves Having a Resource Officer

Security is a key issue in school districts nowadays so some districts are using a school resource officer (SRO).

The Croswell-Lexington Board of Education reviewed the need for such a position during their last meeting. In order to do that, the board had to amend the agenda to include that topic.

The board then approved a tentative school resource officer position agreement between the Croswell-Lexington Community School District and the city of Croswell's Police Department.

A SRO is a sworn law enforcement officer who is assigned to a school campus to ensure safety, deter crime, and build positive relationships with youth. A SRO functions as a bridge between the school community and local police departments.
