State funding is helping North Branch develop a vacant building into a multi-use property.
The village received a $992,000 performance-based Michigan Community Revitalization Program (MCRP) grant to address significant redevelopment costs associated with the rehabilitation of a former hardware store to have eight apartments and two commercial spaces totaling 1,200-square feet on the first floor with apartments on the second floor.
The overall investment in the property will be about $2.4 million. The developers are PAMM Group LLC.
Also, the village's downtown development authority (DDA) is supporting the project with a $10,000 facade grant to refurbish the front of that building.
In 2025, the hardware store was considered a blight issue, but the funding will turn the site into a viable piece of property.
The property's development ties in with the master plan to develop affordable housing and encouraging business development.
