The Caseville City Council approved the alternative two plan, which was recommended by the engineers for the water system.

Alternative two will cost about $13 million.

That plan was selected so the city can continue to move forward in seeking funding from the state's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), and because of grants and low interest loans that are available to communities for drinking water projects, according to city Manager Jamie Learman.

The city will also be seeking funding from state and federal programs for the project.

During the meeting, representatives from the city of Bad Axe and the Port Austin Regional Water Authority suggested connecting to their system via a line to Kinde.

There wasn't a dollar amount given for that proposed plan.

Also, one of the proposed plans suggested a connection to Port Austin, but was not considered due to the estimated cost of $60 million or more.
