Following another serious crash at the Deckerville Road and Hurds Corner Road intersection 1:30 p.m., Saturday, the Tuscola County Road Commission now plans to take action.
Six people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in a two-vehicle crash at that intersection.
Hours later the road commission announced plans to do some temporary safety improvements to that intersection and five others designated as dangerous intersections while a study of needs that was started several months ago continues.
That proposed plan is expected to be officially approved at their 8 a.m., Thursday (April 9) meeting.
During Tuesday's public hearing regarding the road commission, Commissioner Thom Bardwell noted it took another tragic accident for the road commission to take action after several months of inaction reportedly to study the situation.
Commissioners have talked about replacing the road board, taking over operations, expanding the board, and going back to making them appointed instead of elected.
