Huron County - Rita Rose King appeared before Judge Prill in circuit court for sentencing.
Defense attorney Elizabeth Weisenbach requested a 2 week adjournment. King, previously sentenced to 6 months despite a 30 day recommendation, expressed disappointment. Her family situation includes three children, two of whom are autistic and nonverbal, and a husband with schizophrenia; King was identified as the primary caregiver and breadwinner.
Difficulties arose in submitting character letters to the court. King also refused to review her Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI) report due to being upset.
The court granted the 2 week adjournment to allow King to review the PSI and for character letters to be submitted. Letters must be presented within seven days of sentencing, with objections or responses filed three days thereafter. The new date for this is April 20th.
