The Croswell-Lexington (Cros-Lex) Community School District now has some extra room for expansion.
The board of education approved the purchase of an abandoned car wash property that is adjacent to the Frostick Elementary School.
The purchase price of that land was $27,500. It will be used to expand the parking lot at the Frostick School.
The district will be asking voters to approve a $37,100,000 general obligation bond proposal during the May 5 election.
The bond is being sought to pave the parking lot expansion, remodeling and improving buildings and facilities, HVAC, technology, and grounds.
The district is in Sanilac County and extends into the city of Croswell and the townships of Buel, Evergreen, Fremont, Greenleaf, Lamotte, Lexington, Sanilac, Speaker, Washington, and Worth.
The district also extends into St. Clair County's townships of Burtchville, Grant and Greenwood.
