Cass City Business Left in the Lurch When Program Ends

Without fanfare or announcement a key program that helped with business development has now ended.

"I found out at a conference the prior week that the State Legislature did not extend the Commercial Redevelopment Act, PA 255," said Cass City Village Manager Debbie Powell.

That program sunsetted on December 31, 2025, and it was not renewed.

Because of that no action could be taken on the request from Recker Holdings, LLC for a tax abatement, Powell noted.

The village had been expected to set a public hearing at the January meeting for Feb. 24 for a public hearing for Recker Holdings, LLC, but that is no longer necessary.
