MSP Alerts Residents To Phone Scam Involving Fake Trooper

Michigan State Police are cautioning the public about a phone scam involving someone impersonating an officer.

Investigators say multiple people have reported receiving calls from someone identifying himself as "Sgt. Callahan" with the Tri-City Post. The caller falsely claims the person being contacted has an active arrest warrant.

Authorities emphasize that troopers do not call citizens to demand payment or threaten arrest, and anyone receiving such a call should hang up immediately and notify law enforcement.
