Michigan's National All Domain Warfighting Center (NADWC) has been designated by the Department of War as a major national training site for advanced uncrewed aerial systems, according to a February 2nd announcement from U.S. Rep. John Roth.
The decision follows a 2025 executive order aimed at expanding U.S. drone capabilities and reflects federal recognition of the center's capacity to support both drone and counter-drone operations. Officials cited the extensive training space, specialized airspace, and ability to conduct year-round, multi-domain exercises.
Anchored by Camp Grayling and the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, the NADWC offers large-scale land and air resources, a dedicated long-range drone corridor, and infrastructure that supports autonomous and beyond visual line of sight drone operations. The site also hosts military exercises and technology demonstrations that bring together defense agencies, private industry, and academic partners.
Roth said the selection strengthens Michigan's role in national defense innovation while supporting the long-term sustainability of the state's military installations.
