Elmwood Township Board Tabled Data Center Moratorium

Green-energy development continues to be an issue for the Elmwood Township Board of Trustees during their last meeting.
According to the preliminary agenda the board had been expected to review a proposed moratorium on data storage centers.
Township Attorney Seth Koches joined the meeting via speakerphone to discuss the proposed Data Center moratorium.
Several audience members complained the call was very difficult to hear the conversation.
During discussion on the issue, it was decided to table a decision on the moratorium.
Trustee Evan Laurie moved to table the data center moratorium until this month's meeting and the board supported that action.
Some township residents and board members are divided on supporting or not supporting green-energy development in the township.
That issue has prompted two different recall efforts, which if supported, could recall all five members of the board.
The key issue of the proposed recall is those who voted to replace the township's former legal counsel with a new attorney.
The other recall issue is to replace members who opposed changing the legal counsel with a new attorney.
