In court Monday, Jared Cash Butterfield was arraigned on serious charges. He faces a misdemeanor count of assault or assault and battery against Andrew Joseph Holdwick, punishable by up to 93 days in jail.
More gravely, he's charged with a felony for assault with intent to do great bodily harm or strangulation against Kaylee Elizabeth Irwin, which could lead to 10 years in prison, plus an additional felony for domestic violence against a pregnant individual, carrying up to 5 years.
Mr. Butterfield entered a not guilty plea for the misdemeanor, while no plea was entered for the felony charges at this time.
Key dates have been set: a plea cutoff hearing for the misdemeanor on March 12th, 2026, and for the felony, a probable cause conference on February 12th, followed by a preliminary examination on February 20th.
Bond was a contentious issue. The prosecution argued for maintaining the current bonds, citing a history of violent crimes, a claim Mr. Butterfield disputed, stating a similar prior charge was overturned.
The defense sought a reduction for the felony bond. Ultimately, the court set the misdemeanor bond at $3,500, 10%, but kept the felony bond at $100,000 cash surety.
Strict no-contact orders were issued for both alleged victims, Andrew Joseph Holdwick and Kaylee Elizabeth Irwin.
Attorney Dallas Rooney has been appointed to represent Mr. Butterfield.
