The status quo of the Elba Township Fire Department will continue as it has had for several decades.

The township's board of trustees approved the reappointment of Mike Burke as fire chief. He has served as chief of that department since the 1980s.

In other fire department matters, the board approved the purchase of security cameras for both fire stations. Cameras will be installed at the Hadley Road station and the Davison Road station.

The board also approved increasing the firefighters minimum wage to $13.75 per hour in order to comply with the state's updated Workforce Wage Act.

In other matters, the board is seeking a candidate for trustee to replace David Ivory, who is moving from the area.

Those who have questions about the open poison can call the township hall for more information by dialing 810-664-2332, or letters of interest and qualifications can be emailed to supervisor@elbatownship.org.

The board is expected to fill the remainder of Ivory's trustee term at the 7 p.m. Jan. 26 meeting.
