In a recent court session, the defendant, Ms. Cousino, waived her preliminary examination in a felony embezzlement case. The charge alleges embezzlement by an agent or trustee involving between $1,000 and $20,000. Assistant Attorney Alexander Pahany represented the prosecution, while Attorney Mike Murawski represented Ms. Cousino.
During the hearing, the judge placed Ms. Cousino under oath and explained the purpose of a preliminary examination, emphasizing that it determines whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed to trial. The court confirmed that Ms. Cousino made the decision voluntarily, without coercion or promises, and after consulting with her attorney. The waiver was formally accepted, and the case will move forward to the Circuit Court for arraignment.
The arraignment is scheduled for February 2nd, 2026, at 9 a.m., and bond conditions remain unchanged. No additional actions were recorded during the session.
