Tuscola County Sheriff Ryan Robinson announced the retirement of Lieutenant Ted Hull effective Feb.13 after more than 33 years of service to the citizens of the county.
"Hull's commitment to public service began well before his appointment as a deputy. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he participated in the Tuscola County Sheriff's Explorer Program and served in dispatch and corrections, while also gaining patrol experience as a reserve police officer with the Vassar Police Department and a part-time officer with the Village of Reese", explained Robinson.
After two years of part-time employment, Hull was appointed as a deputy in 1993.
Throughout his career, Hull served in road patrol, field training, supervision, dispatch, and corrections.
He earned a reputation for professionalism and calm leadership during high-risk and emotionally charged incidents, noted Robinson.
Hull received multiple formal commendations, including seven awards for Professional Excellence, three for Meritorious Service, and one Citation for Bravery.
These recognitions reflect his actions during armed confrontations, violent domestic incidents, emergency rescues, and complex interagency investigations.
He was promoted to lieutenant in 2016.
