The Tuscola County Board of Commissioners will meet at 8 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 15 in the boardroom of the Purdy Building, 125 W. Lincoln Street, Caro.
According to the preliminary agenda, commissioners are expected to take action to purchase safety signals for six intersections that have been designated as hazardous due to the number of crashes that have happened at intersections.
Flashing read lights on stop signs and rumble strips have been an ongoing topic since the tragic accident on Sept. 26, 2025, that killed three members of the William Putman family and injured other members also.
Requests by county commissioners to have the road commission install the safety singles have not been done so the commissioners are taking it upon themselves to do it.
The estimated cost of 12 flashing lights on stop signs is about $1,683, and the estimated cost for 24 rumble strips is $20,851 for a total of $22,534, which is expected to help save the lives of other motorists.
Commissioners are also expected to make appointments to the county's Economic Development Corporation, and to approve the purchase of eight GIS tablets for the mosquito abatement department.
