A two-vehicle crash on McAlpin Road in Grant Township sent one driver to the hospital with shoulder pain on the afternoon of January 10th, 2026.
The Huron County Sheriff's Office reports the crash happened around 4:06 p.m. when a yellow 2005 International 4000 Series commercial truck towing a vehicle pulled to the side of the roadway. A gray 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, which had been traveling east, attempted a U-turn and collided with the truck in a side-swipe impact.
Deputies say the force of the crash pushed the commercial truck into the south ditch, causing damage to the front-right corner and bumper, while the Equinox sustained disabling damage to its front end.
The driver of the Equinox reported right shoulder pain and was transported by Central Huron Ambulance to McLaren Thumb Region hospital.
The truck driver was not injured, and investigators note that both drivers were wearing shoulder and lap belt restraints at the time of the collision.
Improper turn and making a U-turn were listed as contributing factors in the crash, which remains under review by the Sheriff's Office.
