A single-vehicle crash on a snowy, slushy roadway in Fairhaven Township sent one driver to the hospital Saturday evening, according to a state traffic crash report.
The crash occurred on January 10th, 2026, at approximately 7:25 p.m. on a non-freeway, straight stretch of roadway in rural Huron County. Road conditions were listed as dark and unlighted, with a slushy surface and ongoing snow at the time of the incident.
According to investigators, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, black in color, was traveling west when the driver lost control on the snowy, slushy pavement. The truck ran off the right side of the road, entered the ditch and came to rest on all four wheels, sustaining disabling damage to the front left side.
The driver, a 23 year old Bay Port resident and sole occupant of the vehicle, was wearing a lap and shoulder belt but complained of head and left leg pain after the crash. The driver was transported by ambulance to Scheurer Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Fire and EMS crews from multiple local agencies responded to the scene to assist the driver and secure the area. The damaged pickup was later towed from the ditch by a private company and removed to a local auto lot.
