The focus for Owen-Gage's students of the month for December is being a "Cooperative, Collaborative Worker." A student who is a cooperative, collaborative worker communicates without bias, accepts and involves all members of a group, and is able to function as a leader and-or a follower. He-she also can move effectively from one group to another and demonstrates loyalty and trust in a group.
The following students have been chosen: Alex Binder, kindergarten, son of Megan and Brian Binder; Colton Sprague, first grade, son of McKenzie Parker-Morrish; Luna Lomeli, second grade, daughter of Kortney Prisoc and Jose Lomeli; Briana Aikens-Niemi, fifth grade, daughter of Jessica Aikens; Lillian Parker, sixth grade (junior high level), daughter of Lyndsay and Josh Parker; Rylin LaCroix, eleventh grade (high school level), son of Amy and James LaCroix; and Aubrey Hellebuyck, twelfth grade (senior student), daughter of Ashley and Anthony Hellebuyck.
Special recognition goes to the "Senior Student of the Month" Aubrey Hellebuyck. Aubrey has been on the honor roll and a member of the 3.0 Honors Club each year of high school. She was inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year, and is the current president of NHS. She has served as student council president her senior year, and treasurer her junior year. Aubrey has served as her class representative her junior and senior years, and as class president her freshman and sophomore years.
Aubrey was a member of the band as a freshman and played the flute. She has been active in varsity sports all 4 years of high school. She has played Varsity Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball each year of high school.
As a senior, Hellebuyck was voted homecoming queen. Aubrey was her class representative for homecoming as a freshman and sophomore and also for snowball as a sophomore. She has served on the yearbook since her sophomore year in high school.
Aubrey has attended the Huron Area Technical Center enrolled in the Health Sciences program for two years. Through the Tech Center she has had the opportunity to be a part of On the Job Training, and is working part time for Scheurer Hospital.
Aubrey plans to pursue a degree in nursing. She is currently considering CMU or SC4 for her degree.
