Efforts to recall two Elmwood Township Board members continued with new petitions filed Monday, Jan. 12th.
"This morning recall petition language was filed against Chris Graff, who is the Elmwood Township Supervisor, and against Cheryl Kilbourn, who is the Elmwood Township Treasurer," said county Clerk Jodi Fetting.
The recall sponsor is Kurt Mika.
The Tuscola County Election Commission will meet at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the probate/family courtroom in the courthouse to review the proposed recall language.
The election commission will determine the petitions clarity and factualness.
The petition to recall Graf says that on Jan. 15, 2025, during a regular meeting of the Elmwood Township Board of Trustees, Elmwood Township Supervisor Chris Graff voted against the motion to immediately terminate Elmwood Township's professional relationship with the law firm Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith PC and to approve the hiring of the law firm of Bauckham, Thall, Seeber, Kaufman, & Koches PC to provide legal services to Elmwood Township.
The recall petition filed against Kilbourn should be recalled for the same reason given for Graff's proposed recall.
Serving on the county's election commission are county treasurer Ashely Bennett, probate/family court Judge Nancy Thane and Fetting.
