Reported Car Fire In Walmart Parking Lot

Bad Axe police assisted Bad Axe City Firefighters with a vehicle fire in the Walmart parking lot near the south entrance.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, reported seeing flames coming from the rear of the vehicle after pulling into the lot and immediately parked away from other cars before calling for help.

Responding firefighters located the fire in the trunk and rear passenger-side tail light area and were able to extinguish it without further incident.

The driver mentioned the vehicle had been involved in a rear-end collision a few months earlier.

After the fire was out, officers and the fire chief checked the trunk for any signs of foul play and found nothing suspicious, and a local towing company removed the vehicle from the scene.
