As part of the Kingston Fire Department's routine, they constantly do drills to keep their skills sharp.
On top of that, the department is working to add another skillset to their rescue training.
Two members of the fire department became the first to be Certified Ice Rescue Technicians, and in a couple weeks the rest of Kingston's firefighters will also be Ice Rescue Technicians.
Although Kingston is several miles aways from Tuscola County's shoreline, there are several lakes and ponds in the area. Because of that, the department felt that it was important to be trained to do ice rescues and have the equipment to perform those types of rescues for the community.
The equipment was purchased to be able to do ice rescue training from fundraisers the department has done over the past couple of years.
Members of the Kingston Fire Department thanks the community for their support in being able to make the purchase for the equipment possible.
