Petitions to Recall Two Mayville Village Offices Failed

The Tuscola County Election Commission met today on the proposed recall of Mayville Village President Kristen Valentine and on Trustee Beau Shaver.
The commission did not approve the language on the proposed recall petitions.
The petition for the recall of Shaver said he should be recalled because he "made a motion to table the opening of Mayville Village Office indefinitely."
The petition for the recall Valentine said she should be recalled because she voted no on the motion to open the village office.
The commission did not approve either of the proposed recall petitions. The election commission is tasked with determining the reasons listed on a petition recall is factual and has sufficient clarity.
Tuscola's Election Commission is composed of county Clerk Jodi Fetting, county Treasurer Ashley Bennett, and the county's Probate-Family Court Judge Nancy Thane.
Because Fetting was not available to attend the hearing, her Deputy Clerk Ashley Gaudett was appointed as her representative at the hearing.
After the commission rejected the petitions' language, those who supported the proposed recall started working on new petition language for another attempted recall.
